Schedule of Activities next 8 weekends, Sept. 3-4 through Oct. 22-23, 2011

The weekend of Sept. 10-11 is the Little Lehigh Slalom in Allentown, PA.

THIS RACE IS CANCELLED DUE TO HIGH WATER... 1000 CFS EARLY IN THE WEEK plus potential damage to the gabions on the course. On Sat. the flow was still 400 CFS, but the race had been cancelled.  Hence in 2011 there will be only 5 Penn cup Slaloms.

This is a great race for beginners and good exercise for advanced paddlers, too. It is Penn Cup Number 4.

but tonight the bandwidth has been exceeded and I couldn't do it.
I traditionally leave on Saturday morning for a late Sat. afternoon practice on the actual course. In previous years we have stayed over night at the Aimee and Scott Douglas (cf Sarah Douglas) residence... It has been really nice there.

There are 5 Penn Cup slaloms this year. 3 will be needed in attendance to be considered for the Penn Cup Cup awards. Penn Cup Slaloms already held were the Dog Days, Lewistown Kish, and Riversport.

Preview of Sept. 17-18 weekend:
A.There is a race in northern Wisconsin called the Last Ditch Slalom.  It is a Class II race and we actually went to it ... twice... recently.  We would leave early Friday morning or early Thursday evening. The race is on Saturday and will have a nice group of paddlers, including a bunch of kids.
B. Lehigh River release on both days. .

Weekend of Sept. 24-25 Fiddlers Elbow Slalom near Harrisburg. Penn Cup No. 4. Usual schedule late Sat. afternoon practice on the course and race on Sunday.

We usually have a homestay that weekend and I have to check on arrangements.

On Sunday, Oct. 23 there is the Fall Feeder Classic Slalom.
